A man from Scotland has just become the first person in the UK to die from rabies for more than 100 years. He was bitten by a bat. The bat carried a variant of rabies that's only found it bats, so we've not yet got rabid dogs and foxes, but I wonder how long it will be before we do? There were people opposing the building of the channel tunnel to stop rabies coming into the UK from the rest of Europe. Now we should probably think about stopping the threat from Scotland.
